Jorge Gurgel is a professional MMA Fighter. He lives and trains in Cincinnati Ohio. Originally from Brazil, Jorge owns and operates a World Class training facility in West Chester, Ohio. The JG (Jorge Gurgel) MMA Academy is well known around the world for producing some of the best fighters of our time. Jorge appeared on the 2nd season of the Ultimate Fighter TV series, has fought 6 times at the UFC, and currently fights with Strike Force. Well known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jorge sometimes prefers to stand and bang showing his skill as a Muay Thai fighter. Jorge’s JG Academy has produced many world class MMA athletes. UFC level fighters such as Dustin Hazlet and Rich “ACE” Franklin train at the JG Academy, as well as, many of the best up and coming stars of MMA. Jorge is married to Zoila Frausto Gurgel, Zoila is the current female
champion for Bellator, and also represents the JG MMA Academy.
JC Cox is the owner of the Texas based affiliate of the JG MMA Academy. Training since 1979, JC has studied several different martial arts styles from the days before MMA became popular. During the last 30 plus years, JC has fought in hundreds of competitions, fought 3 professional kickboxing fights with a record of 3-0-0), and twice represented the United States overseas. Most recently, JC competed at the 2011 NAGA event in Dallas, winning the Championship Belt in the Advanced Division. JC received his teaching certificate in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu from Rorion, Ryron, and Rener Gracie and originally ran a Certified Gracie Jiu-jitsu Academy. In 2007, JC transferred his affiliation to the JG MMA Academy. JC, maintains a good relationship with the Gracie Family as well as many other world class trainers and fighters, and has great respect for all of them, however is dedicated to representing the JG Academy here in Texas. The students make regular trips to the Cincinnati location to train with Jorge, and have produced several up and coming professional fighters such as Josh Foster and Josh Lee.
